Bisphenol F (BPF) is an important monomer, it was usually prepared from phenol (Ph) and formaldehyde (FA) catalyzed by acid. In this study, an acid resin-carbon composite (PP-170) was prepared, and the catalytic properties of PP-170 for the synthesis of BPF from Ph and FA liberated through the parallel decomposition of PODE2 was investigated. Characterization results show that —SO3H and Ar—OH groups have been successfully introduced into PP-170. And most of these groups are distributed on the inner surface of the pore. Compared with H3PO4 and H2SO4, PP-170 had a higher turnover frequencies in catalytic synthesis of BPF, and the selectivity of BPF and the relative content of 4,4-BPF were relatively higher. Thus, PP-170 is especially suitable for preparing BPF with higher relative content of 4,4-BPF. Additionally, calcination is an effective method to regenerate PP-170. After regeneration, PP-170 was reused two times, and its catalytic performance remained almost unchanged.
